My work is a reminder of the financial difficulties my family had to face done in black and while, to capture a memory from my childhood. And although, some situations weren’t ideal, like visiting the laundromat every weekend, we learned to make the best out of it. We would spend our time playing the only game they had in the place, PAC-man. My figure passing by through the art piece is a moment of taking in my childhood as a gift from God. I could never take away the hardships my family faced, but I do take into account the joyful moments I had regardless of those hardships. I was born on the 7th of July and just as my figure is passing by, it holds its position on washing machine number 7 because having been brought to this world is “una bendición” (a blessing) as my mother would say.
